Tornadoes Split Games With Spencer

The Storm Lake softball team beat visiting Spencer 7-5 Monday night giving the Tornadoes a share of the Lakes Conference title. Avery DeHaan allowed two earned runs and struck out ten in picking up the win. DeHaan also blasted a 3-run homer that gave Storm Lake an early 4-0 lead. Olivia Speers 2-run double in the 5th inning proved to be the difference as the Tornadoes improved to 16-5 overall and 7-0 in the Lakes.

The Spencer baseball team plated four runs in the 5th inning and defeated Storm Lake 4-2. The Tornadoes got on the board in the 1st inning thanks to a Trey Boettcher base hit. In the 2nd inning Drew Hogrefe drove in a run with a single to make it 2-0. The visiting Tigers would send ten batters to the plate in the 5th as they claim a share of the Conference title. Storm Lake can get a piece of the title if they win at Spencer Thursday evening.

The Tornadoes are on the road Tuesday at Algona. The varsity game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7 KAYL starting at around 7pm.
