Tornado Teams Swept At Webster City

Hayden McCoy delivered a game winning hit and the Webster City softball team walked off Storm Lake 2-1 in eight innings Tuesday night. Each team had six hits in the game with the Tornadoes lone run coming from Grace Kenkel who crushed a solo homer in the 2nd inning.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the top of the 7th, Avery DeHaan led off with a single to right. Cole Richardson hit the next pitch for a base hit to put runners at first and second base. Kenkel would then hit a hard ground ball right at the 2nd baseman who tagged out Richardson and threw to first for a key double play. Olivia Speers then grounded out to the pitcher and the inning was over.

DeHaan suffered the loss pitching 7 2/3 innings giving up two unearned runs on six hits while striking out nine. The Tornadoes fall to 3-2 on the year and they will play again Wednesday night at home vs. HWC. Click below to hear the post game interview with head coach Tony Statz.

The Webster City baseball team improved to 10-0 on the year shutting out the Tornadoes 13-0 in five innings. Storm Lake didn’t have a hit in the game. The Tornadoes fall to 4-3 on the year and they will play again Thursday night at Spirit Lake.
