The Storm Lake girls basketball team outscored Spencer 15-6 in the 4th quarter and beat the Tigers 56-45 Friday night at Spencer.
Grace Kenkel had 19 points and 11 rebounds, Avery DeHaan scored 18, and Reagan DeHaan chipped in with ten and the Tornadoes scored their 10th win of the season. Click below to hear from Tornado head coach Nate Reichter.
A short handed Storm Lake boys team held off Spencer winning 69-61. Cam Boyd scored a game high 29 points, Garbieno Weno had 16, and David William added 14 points in the win. The Tornadoes never trailed but it was a close game throughout and after Spencer made a big basket to pull within 58-53 with 3 minutes to go Trey Boettcher buried a big 3-pointer and Boyd converted a key three point play to bump the lead to 64-53 with 1:16 to play.
