Storm Lake Girls Soccer fall in Class 2A-Region 8 playoff game at Denison-Schleswig 4-0

The Storm Lake Tornado Girls Soccer team fell to the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs 4-0 in Class 2A-Region 8 First Round play

The first half saw the two teams do a defensive battle. The Monarchs would get the only tally with seven minutes to go in the half to give the Monarchs the lead 1-0. The Tornadoes would get strong counters but would not be able to find the back of the net as the Monarchs lead 1-0 at the half.

The second half saw the Tornadoes start strong and put pressure on the Monarchs. Again, the Monarchs would not break. The game would stay 1-0 for the first 20 minutes of the second half. However, the Monarchs would pull away with 3 goals over a 10-minute span to lead 4-0. The Tornadoes would have one final counter but were held out of the back of the net. The Monarchs went on to win 4-0.

With the loss the Tornadoes wrap up the season 1-15, the win moves the Monarchs to 8-8 and advances them to Tuesday night when they travel to take on Spirit Lake at Okoboji High School at 7 pm

The Tornadoes say goodbye to seven seniors: Dairin Oropeza, Elly Richardson, Ariana Ramirez, Sofia Santos, Andrea Gomez, Ariana Arreloa, and Samantha Castillo.
