Storm Lake Community School District and St. Mary’s School will begin sharing all athletic programs for students in grades 7-12, with the exception of dance, beginning with the upcoming fall season.
The partnership is intended to strengthen athletic opportunities for student-athletes while building on the longstanding relationship between Storm Lake Community School District and St. Mary’s School. School leaders believe this transition will support participation and expand opportunities for students.
All shared athletic programs will compete as the Storm Lake Tornadoes, with Storm Lake Community School District continuing to serve as the host school. Outside of athletics, both the district and St. Mary’s School will continue to operate independently and maintain their own identities, traditions, academic programs, and mascots. Speech and dance programs will continue to operate separately.
