Sioux Central softball uses strong first two innings en route to a 9-1 win over Alta-Aurelia

The Sioux Central Rebels took a 5-1 lead after two innings and never looked back in a 9-1 home victory over the Alta-Aurelia Warriors

Brielle Engelmann led off the Warriors with a triple and she would later score in the top of the first to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. The Rebels would have an answer in the bottom of the first with two runs. The Rebels would tie the game just two batters into the inning when Bradi Krager hit an RBI single to score Brynn Webber, then would wrap up the inning of scoring when Morgan Christian hit an RBI double to score Kendra Casey. The Rebels would lead 2-1 after one. The Rebels would tally four runs in the bottom of the second highlighted by a Brynn Webber RBI single and a Berkley Johannsen 2 RBI double. The Rebels extended their lead to 6-1 after two innings. The teams would stay scoreless in the third and fourth innings. The Rebels would see two extra-base hits in the fifth when Kendra Casey doubled and Morgan Christian had an RBI triple. Later in the inning, Preslie Peterson hit a sacrifice fly that would score Christian, giving the Rebels the 8-1 lead after five. The Rebels would go on to win 9-1.

The win improved the Rebels to 13-4, and the loss dropped the Warriors 5-9

The Player of the Game was Berkley Johannsen who tossed a complete game (7 innings pitched, 22 batters faced, 11 strikeouts, 0 walks allowed, 2 hits allowed, and 1 run allowed) and also went 1/3 at the plate with a 2 RBI double

Up next the Rebels play host to 4A #14 Storm Lake on Thursday night a game that will be broadcast on KAYL, for the Warriors they host Manson Northwest Webster on Friday
