The 2A #12 Sioux Central Rebels rallied for a 12-10 road win over Pocahontas Area
The game would start right out of the gate as a high scoring affair as Kendra Casey drove in Brynn Webber on a single to give the Rebels the 1-0 lead after the top of the first. The Indians would strike for five first inning runs as the first three batters of the game would make contact. The scoring was highlighted by a two-run Jacalyn Sobotka homerun. The Rebels would have the answer in the top of the second scoring four runs of their own highlighted by RBIs from Avery Wilson, Brynn Webber, Bradi Krager and Kendra Casey. The score would be tied at 5 going to the bottom of the second. The Indians would again grab the lead this time from a Halee Hauswirth solo homerun, the score after two innings 6-5 Indians. The Rebels would open the top of the third with back-to-back singles and would see Halle Laursen drive in a run with a groundout. The Indians would again have the answer in the bottom of the third when a Rebel error lead to Katie Rierson scoring, giving the Indians the 7-6 after three.
After the teams traded runs in the fourth and the bats went silent in the fifth the Indians lead 8-7. The Rebels made their big run in the sixth inning. The first four Rebels reached base, as Kendra Casey and Berkley Johannsen collected RBIs. The Rebels would also capitalize on two Indians to lead 12-8 going to the bottom of the sixth. The Indians would tally two runs highlighted by a Paige Melohn RBI double to cut the lead to 12-10 the margin the Rebels would win by.
The Rebels improved to 14-5 after the win, the loss drops the Indians to 9-9
The winning pitcher for the Rebels was Bradi Krager who tossed 3 innings, struck out three, had 4 hits against and gave up two runs. The losing effort came from Lauren Hoover who tossed five plus innings of work, struck out one, walked two, gave up 13 hits and nine runs.
The Rebels were led offensively by a 5/5 night by Brynn Webber who had 4 hits, 1 double, 4 runs scored, and 1 RBI. The Indians were led by a two-homerun effort by Halee Hauswirth, she also had a single and an RBI
