Raptor boys use a combination of stout first-half defense and clutch free throws to knock out the Rams

–The Ridge View Raptor Boys Basketball team knocked out the MVAOCOU Rams 56-31 in the first round of Class 2A-Substate 1-District 2 play

–The Rams would open the game and hold an early 3-2 lead. That would be the only lead the Rams would have as the Raptors would outscore the Rams 13-0 including a buzzer-beating layup by Cayden Clausen to lead 15-3 in the second quarter. The Raptors would hold the Rams to just nine points in the first half while the Raptors went 6/6 from the free throw line to lead 29-9 at the break. The Rams would have a strong push to start the third quarter outscoring the Raptors 14-5 to draw back within 32-23. That nine-point margin is as close as the game would get in the second half. Once again the Raptor defense locked down and outscored the Rams 9-1 the remainder of the third quarter to lead 41-24. The Raptors would get the victory 56-31.

–The win improves the Raptors to 12-9 (Also marks the third time this season defeating the Rams), and the loss ends the Rams season at 4-18. Up next the Raptors will travel to play Unity Christian (17-4) on Thursday at 7:00 pm

–The Raptors were led in scoring by Cayden Clausen with 16 points, Zach Kolpin with 9 points, and Carter Todd with 7; in total nine different Raptors would score in the game (6 different players in the first half)
