Neely Bacon pitched Remsen-St. Mary’s to a 10-4 win over Newell-Fonda in a class 1A regional final played at Fonda Monday night.
Bacon, who is one of three players from Storm Lake-St. Mary’s that joined the team right before the season started, allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking one.
Bacon also went 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and the Hawks had a total of 16 hits off losing pitcher Ellie Sievers. Mia Matgen also had four hits and four runs scored for the Hawks who improved to 24-4 on the year.
Ellie Sievers had two hits and an RBI, Paige Erickson had two hits and Mylie Hinders blasted her 5th homer of the year, a 2-run shot in the 5th inning that made the score at the time 8-4.
Newell-Fonda concludes the year 23-12.
