Storm Lake won the final three sets in their 3 sets to 1 victory over OA-BCIG tonight (Thur) at Tornado Fieldhouse.
The Tornadoes led most of the 1st set, by as many as eight at 11-3. OA-BCIG closed the gap, but Storm Lake still held a late lead of 20-17 before the Falcons ended on an 8-2 stretch to win the set 25-22.
The next set featured four lead changes and ten ties. Storm Lake was up 24-21 before the Falcons scored the next two, but the Tornadoes called timeout and then closed it out 25-23 to tie the match.
OA-BCIG got off to a 4-0 start in the 3rd set. Storm Lake scored the next four, and a 6-0 run put them up 11-7. The Tornadoes led by as many as nine after that, and took the set 25-19.
The Falcons led 2-0 in the 4th, but Storm Lake never trailed after going up 4-3. The Tornadoes built a lead as large as 13 on two occasions, and won the set 25-14 to take the match in four.
With the win, Storm Lake snaps a six game losing streaking vs OA-BCIG, and go to 3-5 on the season. The Tornadoes next play this coming Tuesday, September 12th at Algona.
OA-BCIG (3-5) play this coming Saturday at the Spirit Lake tournament.
