Storm Lake splits matches versus Sheldon

The Storm Lake Tornado soccer teams split versus the Sheldon Orabs, with the girls falling 1-0 and the boys winning 2-1

The girls game saw a defensive battle. Both team had chances to score but both keepers would shine to keep the game scoreless late. The Tornadoes would have a golden chance with 2:14 to go in the half when they had a PK chance. The Orab keeper was able to save the PK, and the game would go to the half tied at 0. The second half saw the scoreboard get cracked, when Claire Paulsen scored her first goal of the season to give the Orabs a 1-0 lead with 36:51 to go in the half. The Tornadoes would go to the offensive side of the field but they could not convert. Freshman keeper Iratzel Ocegueda was able to wether a couple of break aways from the Orabs. The Orabs would go on to win 1-0.

With the win the Orabs improved to 1-1, the Tornadoes fell to 1-1. The Tornadoes play at home vs Sioux Center Tuesday and the game will be broadcast on KKIA.

Other scores saw the JV Girls win 4-1 over Sheldon to improve to 1-0, the JV boys won 5-1 over Sheldon to improve to 1-0, and the Storm Lake Varisty Boys winning 2-1 over Sheldon with a late Shawn Yang goal with 0.4 seconds to go to improve to 2-0 on the year.
