East Sac County soccer teams get swept at West Sioux

East Sac County Raider soccer teams fell on the road to the West Sioux Falcons with the girls falling 3-2 and the boys dropping their match 7-1.

The girls games saw the Raiders strike first when Kenna Meyer scored eight minutes into the game. Meyer’s goal was assisted by Sarah Bontrager to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. That would be how the match went to the halftime break. The Raiders would add to their lead with another goal strike five minutes into the second half. Kenna Meyer collected her second of the game assisted by Hannah Pudnez to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead. The Falcons would chip into the lead about seven minutes later to cut the lead down to 2-1 with 28 minutes to go. Over the next nine minutes the Raiders would have four chances at goal but could not connect. The Falcons would then find the equalizer with 19 minutes to go. Later in the game the Falcons would connect with a game-winner with three minutes to go, to win 3-2.

The Raiders out-shot the Falcons 13-2 in the first half. The Raiders were lead by Kenna Meyer with two goals, Sarah Bontrager and Hannah Pudenz both had an assist, and Denae Thayer recorded 9 saves. The loss drops the Raiders to 0-3, up next the Raiders battle Harlan on Thursday a game broadcast on KKIA.

The boys game saw the Falcons jump out to 4-0 halftime lead and never look back. The Raiders would score in the second half with an Isaiah Aragon goal but it would not be enough as they fell 7-1. The loss drops the Raiders to 1-2. The Raiders had 20 shot with 9 being shots on goal. Game highlights Luke Wernimont with 33 saves, and Isaiah Aragon with a goal scored. Head Coach Sam Ellis said, “We moved the ball really well with a lot of shots but couldn’t put them on frame. (Wernimont) played incredible and the team had good chances, just couldn’t convert.” Up next for the Raider boys soccer team they take on Carroll Kuemper on April 18th.
