#2 North Union defeated #14 Ridge View 9-4 in a 2A softball region final on Monday in Swea City.
Ridge View opened the scoring in the top of the 1st on a two-out RBI single by Addison Schmidt. North Union answered with three runs in the bottom of the 1st.
Sky Henkel hit a solo homerun for the Raptors in the 4th that made it a 3-2 game. North Union put three on the board in the 5th.
Ridge View closed the gap in the 6th on another homer by Henkel, a two-run shot, which made the score 6-4. The Warriors opened it up in the bottom of the 6th when after back to back two-out singles, Emily Meyer hit a long three-run homer for the final margin.
Meyer struck out seven batters. Schmidt struck out seven in five innings.
Ridge View says goodbye to five seniors including Schmidt, Henkel, Emma Vohs, Abby Wandrey, and Katie Pickhinke. The Raptors finish at 19-9. Ridge View hit 30 homeruns as a team this season.
North Union (32-3) advances to the state tournament for the 2nd year in a row.
