Ridge View Boys Win Second Straight to Start Season

The Ridge View boys basketball team is off to a 2-0 start after their 61-52 win at Alta Aurelia tonight (Thur).

There were eight lead changes and two ties all within the 1st quarter. Ridge View took the lead for good with a last second basket in the 1st quarter to go up 12-11. The Raptors built the lead as high as eight during the 2nd quarter and led 31-26 at halftime.

Ridge View matched their eight point lead early in the 3rd quarter. The Warriors answered with a 7-0 run including three and two point baskets to get within 36-35. Kinnick Jensen followed with a two and then a three, and another Raptors bucket put them up eight again with 2:36. Ridge View’s lead was cut to 46-43 after the 3rd quarter.

Alta Aurelia never got any closer the rest of the way. Carter Todd hit a three early in the 4th to build the lead to eight again, and Alta Aurelia only got as close as six after that.

Kinnick had a game-high 19 points, and Todd added 12. Cam Stites had 14 to lead the Warriors, and Jack Bloom contributed 12.

The Ridge View girls and boys play tomorrow (Fri) at Lawton Bronson.

The Alta Aurelia boys will try and rebound from the season opening defeat when they play tomorrow at Storm Lake St. Mary’s. The girls/boys doubleheader will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA.
