Newell Fonda Baseball Wins District Opener

Newell Fonda defeated Boyer Valley 14-4 in six innings in a class 1A 1st round district game Saturday in Moville.

After Boyer Valley scored two runs to start the game, the Mustangs answered with two in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI single by Beau Wilken and a bases loaded walk issued to Ty Tauber.

Newell Fonda put five runs on the board in the 2nd, and three in the 4th which included a two-run homer by Max Carlson. The Mustangs ended it in the 6th on a two-RBI double by Mason Dicks.

Dicks had three RBI’s, and Tauber as well as Evan Archer each had two. Trey Jungers pitched the first three innings, Ryan Greenfield an inning and a third, and Carlson finished up on the mound as the Mustangs record is now 14-15.

Newell Fonda will play in Moville again on Tuesday at 7pm in the next round against an 18-5 Woodbury Central team. The Wildcats beat Glidden Ralston in their district opener 10-0.
