Kierra Jungers struck out all nine batters that she faced in Newell-Fonda’s 12-0 three inning win over visiting Storm Lake-Saint Mary’s in a class 1A regional quarter-final game played Wednesday night at Fonda.
The Mustang offense took advantage of 12 walks and plated six runs in the 2nd inning and ended the game early with a five run 3rd. Newell-Fonda had six hits in the game with Emma Erickson and Anna Mercer each getting two.
Saint Mary’s concludes the year with a record of 1-13. The Mustangs, now 33-4, will play host to GTRA in a regional semi-final game Friday night at Fonda. The Mustangs own a pair of wins over GTRA this season by scores of 10-0 and 14-2.
