The 2nd ranked Newell-Fonda girls basketball team used another quick start on their way to a 78-28 win over visiting Baxter in a class 1A regional semi-final game played Friday night at Newell.
The Mustangs led 27-4 after the first quarter holding the Bolts to just one made basket in the quarter. It was 47-12 at the half and the route was on.
The Mustangs had 12 different players score and they were led by Mary Walker who scored 13 points, and is now just six points away from one-thousand in her career, and Kierra Jungers was also in doubel figures with eleven.
Baxter concludes the season with a record of 16-5 and they were led in scoring by Mandee Selover’s 11.
The Mustangs, now 21-2, will play AGWSR (23-1) in a regional final at Fort Dodge next Wednesday, February 22nd at 7pm. The game will be broadcast on 97.5FM KBVU.
