East Sac County girls soccer drops two one goal games at the Denison tournament

Over the weekend the East Sac County Girls Soccer team played in the Denison tournament: in game one falling to Denison-Schleswig 1-0, and dropping game two to Carroll 2-1

The tournament opener for the Raiders saw defensive battle with the Monarchs of Denison-Schleswig in a 1-0 loss. The first half saw a defensive deadlock as both teams could not find quality shots. The game would get to the half tied at 0. The second half saw more of the same as the game would stay deadlocked at 0-0. That would change when the Monarchs for the game winning goal with 2:01 to go in the game, and the Monarchs won 1-0.

Game one Raider stats: Sarah Bontrager 2 shots on goal, Hannah Pudenz 2 shots on goal, Danae Thayer 6 saves

In game two the Raiders saw the Carroll Tigers for the second time in three days falling 2-1. The Tigers would jump out to an early lead following a defensive battle, connecting on a goal with 9:45 to go in the first half. The Raiders would answer when Kenna Meyer would find the back of the net with 6:52 to go in the half to even the score at 1-1 at the half. The Tigers would collect the game winning goal with 20 minutes to go in the match, and the Raiders would not find the back of the net on their second half chances. The Tigers went on to win 2-1.

Game two Raider stats: Kenna Meyer 1 goal, and Danae Thayer had 6 saves.

The Raiders fall to a record of 2-6 after the tournament and are back in action tonight as they play host to 1A #14 Harlan at 7pm a game that will be broadcast on KKIA 92.9 FM
