Another Postseason Shutout Lifts Alta Aurelia Into District Final

The Alta Aurelia baseball team defeated Exira Elk Horn Kimballton 6-0 tonight (Wed) in a 1A district semifinal in Alta.

In the bottom of the 4th, a throwing error on a bunt by Evan Peterson allowed Sam Sennert to score from 2nd base to make it a 2-0 game. An RBI double by Gavin Sleezer in the 5th made it 3-0, and a three-run Warriors 6th was highlighted by a two-RBI single by Carson Reinert.

Brechwald earned the win by throwing 4 1/3 innings, allowed four hits, and struck out eight. Reinert pitched the rest of the way and retired all eight batters he faced, including three strikeouts.
