The Alta Aurelia girls basketball team never trailed in their 51-42 win at OA-BCIG Tuesday night.
The Warriors led by as many as eight in the 1st half and were up 25-20 at halftime. OA-BCIG tied the game twice in the 3rd quarter, but a three from Addison Fritz gave Alta Aurelia the lead back for good. The Falcons promptly got within one, but a three by Peyton Kies ignited a 10-1 stretch for the Warriors, which included a basket by Hayden Berkland in the final seconds of the 3rd, and then Jaci DeGroot knocked down a triple to start the 4th quarter scoring to put the Warriors up 44-34.
OA-BCIG got within five points twice down the stretch, including on a Brady Youngren bucket to make it 46-41, but Kies and Berkland scored baskets with over two minutes left to lock up the win.
Nora Peterson scored a game-high 18 for Alta Aurelia, and Kies had 13. Youngren had 16 points for the Falcons.

Alta Aurelia’s record is now 11-10, and OA-BCIG goes to 2-17.
OA-BCIG plays at Harlan this coming Saturday, February 10th in a 3A region quarterfinal at 7pm, and it will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA.
Alta Aurelia plays next Tuesday, February 13th in a 2A region quarterfinal in Kingsley against KP-RV, which will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM.
