2nd Ranked Underwood Downs OA-BCIG in Quarterfinals

Underwood racked up nearly 500 yards of offense and earned a second straight trip to the UNI Dome with a 43-8 win over OA-BCIG in a 1A playoff quarterfinal game in Ida Grove.

Underwood scored on the first play from scrimmage, as a 60-yard pass from Garrett Luett to Mason Boothby, followed by a two-point conversion made it 8-0. After the Falcons went three-and-out, Underwood went 62 yards in four plays, as a 34-yard touchdown pass to Boothby gave Underwood a 15-0 lead only a minute 45 seconds into the game.

OA-BCIG got on the board with a 14-play 80-yard touchdown drive. On 4th and 6, Brysen Kolar threw a 16 yard touchdown pass to Kelton Ladwig, and Ladwig’s point-after cut the Eagles lead to 15-8 with 6:51 left in the 1st quarter.

The Falcons turned the ball over twice later in the 1st half. Two more Underwood touchdowns through the air and one on the ground gave them a 36-8 lead at halftime. The last score came with 8:54 remaining in the 4th quarter.

Underwood had 499 yards of offense. Luett threw four touchdowns, and Boothby caught three of them. Boothby also intercepted three passes, as Underwood won the turnover battle four to one.

OA-BCIG had 213 yards of offense, with all but ten coming through the air. Blake Corbin had seven catches for 54 yards, and Myles Beck caught nine passes for 55 yards.

OA-BCIG finishes with a record of 8-3. Ten Falcons seniors suited up for the last time.

Underwood (10-1) will play in the Dome next Friday against MFL Marmac. The other 1A semifinal will feature Waterloo Columbus Catholic against Grundy Center.
