2A #4 Sioux Central uses strong second half to defeat Manson Northwest Webster in Region Semi-Final

2A #4 Sioux Central Rebels defeated the Manson Northwest Webster Cougars 61-36 in the Class 2A Region 5 Semi-Final

The first quarter saw a tale of two halves as in the first half the Rebels went 5/5 from the field (all starters scored a basket in the stretch) to get the early lead of 11-3 over the Cougars. However, in the back half of the first quarter, the Rebels shot 1/7 from the field and the Cougars went on a 12-2 run to lead 15-13 after the first. The two-point lead would be the biggest the Cougars would get. The Rebels would lead by as many as six in the second quarter (25-19) before the Cougars closed out the first half on a 4-0 run to trail 25-23. The Rebels would open up the third quarter on a 15-4 run to lead 40-27 and never looked back. The Rebels would outscore the Cougars 23-8 in the third and 39-13 in the second half. The Rebels would go on to win 61-36

With the win, the Rebels improve to 21-1 (18-game winning streak, and a schools record 21 wins in a season) and advance to the Class 2A-Region 5 Final to play Pocahontas Area (PAC defeated #14 North Union 58-40) next Wednesday night in Spencer at 7:00pm (the game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7 KAYL). The loss concludes the season for the Cougars at 12-12, the Cougars say goodbye to three seniors; Isabella Pudenz, Amber Alljets, and Briell Wiese.

The Rebels were led in scoring by Bradi Krager with 19 points, Morgan Christian with 14, and Avery Wilson with 13 points. The Cougars were led in scoring by Sophia McCullough with 15 points.
