John Brostad, age 74, a distinguished educator, coach, mentor, and pillar of the Storm Lake community, crossed his final finish line peacefully on July 16, 2026. 

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove, Iowa. Visitation will take place Friday, July 31, 2026 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center’s Oncology department, St. Croix Hospice, or the Storm Lake Dollars for Scholars organization. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
