Caroline Christine Kluver, age 88 and 364 days, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on September 4, 2026, at her home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with visitation held one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home in Odebolt, Iowa. Rev. Kiboko I. Kiboko will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Odebolt Cemetery in Odebolt, Iowa.

Caroline Christine Kluver was born on September 5, 1937, to Edwin and Gladys Kluckhohn. She spent her childhood in several small Iowa communities, including Early and Silver Creek, and received her high school education in Arthur, Iowa. Following high school, Caroline continued her education at business school in Omaha, Nebraska.
Caroline was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Kluver. Together, they began their married life at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where Don was stationed while serving in the military. During their time in Virginia, Caroline put her business education to use working as a secretary at the Pentagon. Following Don’s discharge from the military, the couple returned to Iowa and settled in Des Moines, where they began raising their family.
Life with Don took Caroline and their family on an extraordinary journey. Over the years, they made their home in numerous places throughout the United States and abroad, including Des Moines, Iowa; Louisville, Kentucky; Memphis, Tennessee; Chicago, Illinois; Madrid, Spain; Düsseldorf, Germany; and Paris, France. Each move brought new experiences and adventures, but wherever life took them, Caroline made each new place feel like home.
Above all else, Caroline’s greatest joy was her family. She devoted her life to caring for her husband, children, and home, always placing the needs of those she loved before her own. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured the life and memories they created together.
Caroline will be remembered as a spunky, strong-willed woman with a wonderful sense of humor and a personality that was uniquely her own. She possessed a warmth and strength that carried her throughout life, along with a spirited nature that made her unforgettable to those fortunate enough to know her.
A devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished member of her family, Caroline gave generously of herself and loved deeply. The many places she called home throughout her lifetime were only part of her journey; her true home was always wherever her family was.
Caroline’s strength, humor, warmth, and love will continue to live on through the family she treasured and the memories they hold dear. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Kathy (John) Neumann Block of Pocahontas, IA; Cindy (Gordy) Seibt Gotsch of Marengo, IL; Tricia (Ron) Kluver Gray of Redlands, CA; and David (Amy) Kluver of Carlisle, IA; 11 grandchildren: Warren (Autumn) Neumann, Jessica (Dylan Runnells) Neumann Koval, Kara (Kaleb) Neumann Olson, Danielle (Ross) Neumann Miller, Christi (Andy) Seibt Gomez, Bobby Seibt, Daimon Gray, Alex Gray, Rollon Gray, William Kluver, and Aaron Kluver; eight great-grandchildren: Jessena, Caeden, and Paige Neumann; Anthony and Christian Koval; June and Kalyn Olson; and Marie Miller; along with extended family and friends.
Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kluver; her parents, Edwin and Gladys Kluckhohn; her in-laws, Rickie and Ida Kluver; her sister-in-law, Shirley (Ross) Thevenot; and her brothers-in-law, Orville (Marie) Kluver and Ray Kluver.
