A Wall Lake man was killed in a two-vehicle crash yesterday morning in Sac County.
Authorities say 90-year-old Roy Russom died at the scene after his southbound Toyota Camry was struck by a northbound Dodge Ram pickup on Union Avenue, just before 7:30 a.m.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the pickup—driven by 47-year-old Jeremy Fank of Carroll—was attempting to pass a semi tractor-trailer when both vehicles swerved toward a ditch to avoid a collision. The pickup struck Russom’s vehicle on the driver’s side before both came to rest in the ditch.
The Sac County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
