UnityPoint Health is set to expand local healthcare access with the launch of same-day clinic services at the Family Health Center in Storm Lake, beginning this fall.
The new service will be staffed by a dedicated nurse practitioner and support team, focusing on acute, non-emergent conditions such as minor burns, strains, and other discomforts.
The clinic will offer evening hours four days a week and provide same-day appointments to better serve patients when their primary care provider is unavailable. Lab testing will be available for flu, COVID-19, strep throat, pregnancy, and urinary tract infections.
While not a replacement for primary care physicians, the clinic aims to bridge gaps in care and reduce strain on emergency services.
UnityPoint leaders say the expansion reflects a continued commitment to improving healthcare accessibility in rural communities like Storm Lake.
