Traffic Stop Leads To Arrests

According to a press release, on Sunday, July 6th, 2025, at approximately 4:00 am a Storm Lake Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Northwestern Drive and West Milwaukee Avenue for a minor violation.

Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle the officer detected an odor of marijuana. Following a probable cause search of the vehicle police seized approximately 1.5 ounces of marijuana, THC products, and drug paraphernalia. The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Lilly Weier, age 19 of Cherokee, and Hannah Munoz, age 31 of Cherokee, were both taken into custody without incident.

Weier was charged with the following:

Failure to affix drug tax stamp, a Class D Felony;

Possession of a Controlled Substance, a serious misdemeanor;

Hemp Inhalation, a serious misdemeanor; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor

Munoz was charged with the following:

Failure to affix drug tax stamp, a Class D Felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense, a serious misdemeanor; Hemp Inhalation, a serious misdemeanor; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

Both Weier and Munoz were transported to the Buena Vista County Jail where they were booked and held on a $7,300 bond.
