Sullivan Stepping Down as Early Elementary Principal

The Storm Lake School Board at their meeting yesterday (Wed) accepted the resignation of Early Elementary Principal Mike Sullivan, which will be effective at the end of this current school year.

Superintendent Dr. Stacey Cole released a statement, saying that on behalf of the Storm Lake School District, she thanks Sullivan for his leadership at the East and Early Elementary Schools and the focus he has placed on the well being of students, staff, and families.

Sullivan has indicated that he would like to step away from the world of education. In a letter to staff members, Sullivan expressed his appreciation for the school community’s support. As part of a statement released, Sullivan said over the next several months, he intends to put his best foot forward, support the work of teachers and staff, and advocate for the district’s young learners. Sullivan thanks district staff and families for their trust, respect, and friendship.

Sullivan was named Early Elementary principal in November of 2020. The new building opened in January of last year. Sullivan has been with the Storm Lake district for the last decade. The Storm Lake School District will immediately begin the search for the next principal of the Early Elementary and East Schools.
