Storm Lake to Honor Community Volunteers at Annual Appreciation Event

The City of Storm Lake will host its fourth annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception on Thursday, Oct. 15, celebrating residents who contribute their time and service to local boards, commissions, civic groups and community organizations.

The event will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the ballroom at King’s Pointe Resort. City officials describe the reception as an informal gathering meant to recognize the impact of volunteerism across Storm Lake and to thank those who support community programs, events and services in any capacity.

This year’s theme is “Service Engagement.” Mayor Meg McKeon is scheduled to highlight the role volunteers play in the city and beyond. Storm Lake Community School District Superintendent Dr. Stacey Cole and Storm Lake High School students will also speak about youth involvement and service.

A slideshow will showcase volunteer efforts throughout the community, and a complimentary light meal will be provided. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet and network with volunteers from a variety of local organizations.
