A Storm Lake man is facing a felony charge after an early morning rock toss left the police department with a broken window.
Storm Lake police say the incident happened around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, when officers inside the station saw a man walk up to the front entrance at 401 E. Milwaukee Ave. The man — identified as 29-year-old Permanson Peter — picked up a rock from the landscaping and threw it through a front vestibule window, shattering the glass.
Police say the damage is estimated at $750.
Officers encountered Peter almost immediately in the front parking lot and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a Class D Felony.
Peter was booked and held on a $5,000 bond.
