Storm Lake Man Accused of Assault During Domestic Dispute

A Storm Lake man is facing felony charges after police say he assaulted a woman holding a child during a domestic dispute last Thursday.

Storm Lake Police responded to a 911 hang-up call at 708 Michigan St. around 12:30 p.m., locating a female victim with serious facial injuries. Police allege that during a domestic dispute, 47-year-old Sidney Pino Becquer struck the woman and pushed her head into a wall while she was holding a minor child.

The victim was first taken to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center, then airlifted to another facility for treatment.

Pino Becquer was arrested on scene without incident and charged with willful injury causing serious injury, domestic assault with intent to commit serious injury, and child endangerment. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $14,000 bond.

The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted by Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Ambulance and the Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office.
