The 8th-ranked in Class 2A Sioux Central boys basketball team remains undefeated after their 84-55 win over South Central Calhoun on Saturday night in Rockwell City.
The Rebels jumped out to a 5-0 lead, and then South Central Calhoun took what proved to be their only lead of the game after a 6-0 run. Sioux Central was up 17-11 after the 1st quarter. Sioux Central led by as many as 19 points in the 1st half, but the Titans ended the half on a 8-0 run to get within 41-30 at halftime.
SCC got as close as 46-39 during the 3rd quarter, but that was followed by a 9-0 Sioux Central run, and the lead stayed at double-figures from that point on.
Carter Boettcher connected on five of the Rebels nine threes, and had a game-high 30 points, with 19 of those in the 2nd half. Jake Hargens had 29, and Ethan Mills had 13. Eli Wheelock had 23 for the Titans, including 12 in the 3rd quarter. Gavin Batta and Tyler Lightner each added 10.
Sioux Central improves to 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference. South Central Calhoun goes to 10-2, 5-1.
The Sioux Central girls have now won eight of their last nine games, and had a season-high in points with a 74-52 win over #14 in 2A SCC.
There were two ties at four lead change in the 1st quarter, which ended with South Central Calhoun ahead 16-14. Sioux Central never trailed after taking the lead back early in the 2nd quarter. The score was tied once more at 18-18, but the Rebels then went on a 7-0 run. A three by Bradi Krager in the final seconds of the 2nd quarter put Sioux Central on top 39-24 at halftime. Krager hit another three just before the end of the 3rd to put the lead at 54-34. The Titans could get no closer than 14 midway through the 4th quarter.
Krager poured in 22 points, Morgan Christian had 16, and Avery Wilson added 10 off the bench for the Rebels, as they are now 10-4 overall, and 5-2 in the TLC.
South Central Calhoun is now 10-3, 4-2. Riley Batta had a game-high 23, and Kylee Schleismann had 14.
