The Storm Lake Community School District has announced that Melanie Fisher will serve as the next assistant principal at Storm Lake Elementary School.
She will begin the role on July 1, ahead of the 2026–27 school year.
Fisher brings 15 years of experience in education. She currently serves as director of student services at Storm Lake High School, where she oversees student support systems and leads efforts to strengthen school culture and student wellbeing. Her background also includes time as a fourth‑grade teacher at Storm Lake Elementary and work as a math and Title III ELL consultant with Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency.
She holds a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of South Dakota, a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northwestern College, and a PK‑12 initial administrator license.
Incoming Storm Lake Elementary Principal Dr. Stephanie Anderson says Fisher’s experience and understanding of the school district make her a strong fit for the position, noting that she looks forward to working with her to support a positive learning environment.
Fisher says she’s honored to step into the role and is eager to work with students, staff, and families to continue building a strong school community.
