Funeral services for Lindsey Reicks, 30, of Sioux City, formerly of Aurelia, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. Pastor Linda Morris will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Aurelia.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 on Wednesday, October 12, with the family present, at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The Redig Funeral Home of Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Lindsey Morgan Bruce was born on August 27, 1992 at Cherokee, IA, the daughter of Deloy Jay and Wendy Lea (Morrow) Bruce. She attended school in Aurelia and graduated from the Aurelia High School in 2010. She attended Wayne State for one year, then returned to this area and attended Faust School of Cosmetology in Storm Lake. A few years later she decided to become a nurse and attended Iowa Central Community College in Storm Lake and graduated as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Mercy in Des Moines, Riverview Surgical Center in South Sioux City, NE, and then for Plymouth County Public Health through Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
On October 27, 2018 Lindsey married Gary Francis Reicks at the Community Center in Aurelia. She enjoyed Marvel and Captain America, doing hair, puzzles, and playing board games. Beyond her family her greatest loves were their two Dachshunds, Clyde and Gus. She was a selfless person even through her treatments she would give full attention and care to all of her patients.
Preceding Lindsey in death were her grandmothers, Joleen Bruce and Carolyn Morrow, and grandmother-in-law LuAnn Reicks.
Lindsey passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s in Sioux City, IA, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Gary Reicks of Sioux City, her parents; Deloy and Wendy Bruce of Sioux City, and one brother, Seth and his wife Maribeth Bruce and their sons Bennett and Brodie Morgan Bruce of Sioux City, and two grandfathers, Jerry Bruce of Aurelia and Frank Morrow, Jr, of Cherokee. Also surviving are her father-in-law, Chris Reicks, and three sisters-in-law; Megan Schieffer, Jerica Reicks, and Natasha Byrd, grandparents-in-law; Gary Reicks and Mark and Jane Toyne, aunts and uncles; Tammy Jones, Darin and wife Angie Bruce, Trish and husband Rusty Tracy, Dave and wife Kallie Morrow, Missy and husband Larry Eberly, Jill and husband Dave Fuller, Michelle Toyne, Jeff and wife Deb Toyne, and Joe Reicks, many cousins and many friends and other relatives.
