Lakeside Man Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads to Meth Discovery

Storm Lake police arrested a Lakeside man Wednesday morning after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine in his vehicle.

Police say an officer stopped a vehicle around 7 a.m. in the 800 block of Flindt Drive for an equipment violation. The driver was identified as 42‑year‑old Jacob Jepson, who officers learned was barred from driving in the State of Iowa.

A Storm Lake Police K9 was deployed during the stop and alerted to narcotics inside the vehicle. During a search, officers allege they located a small amount of methamphetamine. According to police, Jepson has three prior controlled substance convictions in Iowa.

Jepson was taken into custody and faces two charges: third-offense possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, a Class D felony, and driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $7,000 bond.
