Early Morning Drug Probe Leads to Felony Arrest in Storm Lake

The Storm Lake Police Department arrested a Storm Lake man following an early‑morning drug investigation that led to multiple charges, including two felonies.

Police say that around 4:35 a.m. on Saturday, an officer was handling an unrelated call in the 200 block of East Milwaukee Ave. when they noticed the odor of marijuana coming from a parked vehicle. The officer identified the man associated with the vehicle as 35‑year‑old Christopher Boatman.

According to police, a search of the vehicle and further investigation revealed THC vape devices and additional marijuana. Boatman was taken into custody and transported to the Buena Vista County Jail for booking.

During the booking process, officers allege they found two baggies of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia concealed on Boatman’s person.

Boatman now faces several charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hemp inhalation device, third-offense possession of marijuana, third-offense possession of methamphetamine and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility. The methamphetamine and contraband charges are both Class D felonies.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held on a $13,300 bond.
