Donald D. Kluver, age 86, of Storm Lake

Donald D. Kluver, age 86 of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the Fonda Specialty Care of Fonda, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa. Rev. Kiboko Kiboko will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Odebolt Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa, with Military Rites conducted by the Roose Post No. 313 of the American Legion of Odebolt, Iowa.

A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa.

Donald Dwaine Kluver, was born on September 29, 1936, to Rickie and Ida (Lamaak) Kluver. He grew up on a farm south of Arthur, IA and received his high school education there. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and married the love of his life, Caroline Kluckhohn. They moved to Fort Belvoir, VA, where Don was stationed.

After his honorable discharge from the service, the couple moved to Des Moines, IA and Don received his B.S. in Accounting from Drake University. He received further education with his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

He then began a 27-year career with International Harvester which brought Don and his family to many places to live and work including Louisville, KY, Memphis, TN, Chicago, IL, Madrid, Spain, Dusseldorf and Neuss, Germany and Paris, France, before returning to the United States to Wheaton, IL.

Don then began a series of employment with Savin and moved to Stanford, CT. After this, the family moved to Storm Lake, IA. Don taught accounting at Buena Vista University for a short period before continuing his career at Iowa Industrial Hydraulics in Pocahontas, IA. The final leg of his career brought him to join a partnership in the Rodney Farm Center where he worked until his retirement.

Don was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 66 years Caroline Kluver of Storm Lake, IA; his loving children Kathy (John) Neumann Block of Pocahontas, IA, Cindy (Gordy) Seibt Gotsch of Marengo, IL, Tricia (Ron) Kluver Gray of Redlands, CA and David (Amy) Kluver of Carlisle, IA; 11 grandchildren Warren (Autumn) Neumann, Jessica Neumann Koval, Kara (Kaleb) Neumann Olson, Danielle Neumann, Christi Seibt, Bobby Seibt, Daimon Gray, Alex Gray, Rollon Gray, William Kluver, and Aaron Kluver; 6 great-grandchildren: Jessena, Caeden and Paige Neumann, Anthony and Christian Koval, and June Olson; extended family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Rickie and Ida Kluver; sister Shirley (Ross) Thevenot; brothers Orville (Marie) Kluver and Ray Kluver.
