On Wednesday, the Storm Lake School Board awarded a bid to construct the third phase of the Early Elementary Building.
Six bids were received, and Sande Construction of Humboldt’s low bid of a little over ten million 67 thousand dollars was approved.
District COO Jeff Tollefson said all bids were well below the original estimate of 17.5 million, which Superintendent Stacey Cole called “great news.” Tollefson said dirt moving on the site could begin in May, saying they want to be more aggressive since this phase of the project is larger than the previous ones.
The third phase will add a preschool/kindergarten wing to the Early Elementary Building, and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
