Witter Gallery and Buena Vista University students are teaming up to host Harmony at Dusk, a free, family‑friendly evening of live music, interactive art, and community engagement from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, April 24) at Harmony Gardens.
The event opens with a performance by the Buena Vista University Rock Ensemble, a student group directed by BVU Assistant Professor of Music Production Aaron Eastwood. The ensemble will play classic hits while guests take part in hands-on art activities set up throughout the garden space.
A major feature of the night is Visual Sound, a short‑film project created by students in BVU’s Advanced Video class. The video incorporates sound cues from Harmony Gardens, allowing children to trigger audio elements and become part of an interactive finale beginning at 8 p.m. Organizers say the experience is designed to immerse participants in a blend of music, video, and live creativity.
Local artist and Witter Gallery board member April Mason will also give an art demonstration, with the finished piece included in the Wingspan Raffle. Raffle tickets are $10, with prizes from local businesses announced throughout the evening. Additional activities include make‑and‑take art booths, coloring tables, and Witter Gallery Ice Cream Sundaes.
Both organizations say the collaboration reflects BVU’s “Education for Service” motto by giving students real‑world creative experience while supporting a community arts event open to the public.
Witter Gallery offers classes, exhibits, and programs aimed at encouraging artistic expression for children and adults across the Storm Lake area.
