Buena Vista Supervisors Approve Bid for Platinum Crush Phase 2

The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors awarded the contract for Phase 2 of the Platinum Crush road project during its weekly meeting yesterday morning, following a competitive bidding process that drew strong interest.

Eight bids were submitted ahead of last week’s deadline, and County Engineer Bret Wilkinson says the level of competition was encouraging.

The board approved the low bid from Peterson Contractors Inc. of Reinbeck, totaling just over $2.39 million. Wilkinson says the company has a solid track record with similar projects.

Phase 2 of the project involves resurfacing a mile-and-a-half stretch that will connect 600th Street and 80th Avenue to the new pavement near the soybean processing plant east of Alta.

Construction could begin yet this fall.
