Buena Vista County Engineer Bret Wilkinson briefed the county board of supervisors yesterday morning on the latest developments in the Platinum Crush road project.
Phase 2 remains on track, with bids due by 1 p.m. on Sept. 18. Wilkinson says the pre-bid meeting held earlier this month went smoothly.
The board is expected to award the contract at its Sept. 23 meeting. Wilkinson confirmed that MidAmerican Energy will meet with the county next Tuesday to discuss utility coordination.
Bonding discussions for the project also moved forward yesterday.
Northland Securities Director of Public Finance Heidi Kuhl outlined a proposed schedule for issuing $4.8 million in general obligation bonds.
The county aims to lock in interest rates by Oct. 7 and close on the bonds by Nov. 5, says Kuhl.
Wilkinson says he’ll continue to update the board as bids come in and timelines evolve.
