The Sac County Board of Supervisors officially swore in Jonathon Meyer as the county’s new sheriff last Tuesday (July 24). Following the ceremony, Meyer immediately stepped into the role, continuing a decade-long career with the department.
Meyer brings extensive experience to the position, having served in multiple capacities, including patrol division sergeant, jail administrator, K-9 handler, and drug recognition expert.
He says that experience has well shaped him to lead the department.
Meyer is committed to giving 110 percent as the new Sac County Sheriff, he says.
The change in command comes after longtime sheriff Ken McClure retired in late June, wrapping up his service to the county after announcing his departure in May.
