Next week is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Iowa.
Buena Vista County Emergency Management Coordinator Aimee Barritt says BV County will be participating in the annual statewide tornado drill this coming Wednesday, March 29th…(audio clip below :15 )
If there is severe weather on Wednesday, the tornado drill will be postponed to the following day on Thursday, March 30th at 10am.
Barritt says citizens should make a plan for where they are going to shelter in the event of a severe weather situation…(audio clip below :30 )
Severe Weather Awareness Week provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of being aware of and prepared for severe weather. There will be a different focus each day, with the focus Monday, March 27th on severe thunderstorms. Tuesday will highlight weather warnings…Wednesday tornadoes…Thursday family preparedness…and the focus next Friday, March 31st will be on flash floods.
