A Cherokee woman recently pleaded guilty to federal drug charges.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 50-year-old Christina Gianopoulos-Rohrer entered a guilty plea last Wednesday for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
At a plea hearing, Gianopoulos-Rohrer admitted that on December 6th of 2021, Woodbury County authorities pulled over a vehicle in which she was a passenger. Approximately one pound of meth was seized, which officials say was intended for distribution by Gianopoulos and others.
Prosecutors say she also admitted being involved in the distribution of at least three kilograms of methamphetamine from December of 2019 through May of 2022, and that the drug came from sources in California and Nevada. Prosecutors say it was then brought back to the Cherokee area for distribution.
Sentencing will be held at a later date.
