Storm Lake Man Sentenced to Prison for Liquor Store Armed Robbery

A Storm Lake man was sentenced this week in Buena Vista County District Court to serve up to ten years in prison for committing an armed robbery at a local liquor store back on New Years Day of this year.

24-year-old Eh Lwe pleaded guilty last month to 2nd Degree Robbery, a class C felony. He will be required to serve 60-percent of his prison term before being eligible for parole.

Late in the evening of January 1st, an employee of Al’s Liquor reported to police that Lwe had entered the store and brandished a firearm, which he held to the employee’s head. Lwe allegedly moved the employee to the cash register, and he took an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported. Lwe fled the business on foot, and police were unable to locate him at that time.

Two days later, police executed search warrants at two different Storm Lake residences. Lwe was located at the residence at 426 E West 8th Street. During the execution of the search warrants, police allegedly located clothing worn by Lwe during the incident, as well as cash, and a black BB gun that was used during the robbery.
