Teen Dies in O’Brien County Accident

A single-vehicle accident in O’Brien County claimed the life of a teenager.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened at approximately 8:30 Wednesday morning northwest of Hartley. A 16-year-old male, identified as Josh Salzillo of Hartley, was driving a car east on 300th Street when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a creek embankment. According to the crash report, the teen was not wearing a seat belt, and suffered a fatal injury.

No reason is listed for why the vehicle went off the roadway.
