Storm Lake Verizon Store Worker Allegedly Stole Trade-In Phones and Sold Them on Social Media

A Storm Lake woman was arrested late last week in connection with an investigation into the theft of cell phones at a local Verizon store where she worked.

Storm Lake Police received a belated report of stolen cell phones on December 28th. A victim reported that in early November of last year, they traded in two cell phones during a transaction at Victra, which is an authorized Verizon retailer located at 111 Salebarn Road. The victim alleged that they discovered nearly two months later the company never received the cell phones.

Police launched an investigation and found other customers reporting a similar issue. Following an investigation, police allege 30-year-old Brooke Inthasane-Robinson of Storm Lake misappropriated cell phones left for trade-in at the store for her personal use by selling them on social media. The estimated loss to date is $1,550.

This past Friday, Inthasane-Robinson surrendered herself to Storm Lake Police. She was charged with 2nd Degree Theft, a class D felony, and was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a five-thousand dollar bond.
