A Storm Lake woman faces multiple charges after police say a domestic disturbance escalated into assaults on medical staff and officers early Saturday morning.
Around 1 a.m. on Nov. 1, Storm Lake Police Department officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of East 13th Street. Police say 18-year-old Awa Maya of Storm Lake allegedly struck a family member and broke a window during an argument.
Maya was taken into custody and transported to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for screening. Authorities report she became combative at the hospital, allegedly spitting on a nurse and two officers.
She was later booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on multiple charges, including domestic abuse assault, criminal mischief, and three counts of assault on persons in certain occupations. Maya is being held without bond.
