Storm Lake United Names Interim Executive Director

An update has been provided regarding the leadership situation at Storm Lake United following the recent resignation of Executive Director Breanna Horsey.

SLU’s Marketing and Activities Director Fletcher Kucera has been appointed to serve as Interim Executive Director while efforts are made to permanently fill the position. Kucera, along with Accounts Manager/Latino Community Outreach Coordinator Gelder Pineda, will continue to serve the business community and promote the area and its events with no disruption of services during the transition period.

Two weeks ago, Storm Lake United Board President Brooke Sievers announced that Horsey will be stepping down as Executive Director, effective March 3rd, to accept a new career opportunity. Storm Lake United, the SLU Board, City of Storm Lake, and Buena Vista County plan to redouble efforts to work closely together for the benefit of the communities and member businesses during the SLU leadership transition.

“While Storm Lake United will see some changes in the interim, we are excited for our future and what 2023 has in store for the organization,” said Brooke Sievers, board president. “We are anticipating a progressive and memorable year in the area, full of projects, progress and celebrations – including the 50th anniversary RAGBRAI visit and the Storm Lake Sesquicentennial. We’re excited about the future, and the City, County and Storm Lake United will work together to make the most of the county and community opportunities.”
