Storm Lake Teacher Selected to SPACE Program this Summer

Storm Lake Elementary TAG Teacher Ashley Brock has been selected to attend the Space Port Area Conference for Educators (SPACE) at Kennedy Space Center in June.

SPACE aims to serve teachers from across the globe by providing professional development opportunities and high-quality STEM instructional resources. Attending educators will spend three days at The Center for Space Education developing curriculum and forming relationships. Featured in the program will include keynote sessions with astronauts, launch directors, as well as behind the scenes tours of Space Port Operations.

Brock expressed how honored she was on her Facebook page, saying, “I’m so excited to bring STEM inspired innovation back to Storm Lake Community School District.” Brock has served as a teacher in Storm Lake for the past two years. She headed a couple of projects, including literacy-based community collaborations with Delicias Bakery, Buena Vista University, and the Storm Lake Public Library.

In addition, Brock is also a member of the SLES Computer Science team, where she is working to bring awareness and accessibility into the classroom with experiences such as virtual reality, 3D printing, and robotics.
